Description
The colour-change effect on the Mirage Photo Mug comes down to a thermochromic pigment coating applied over the top of a full colour sublimated design. That pigment is formulated to shift from solid black to clear once it reaches roughly 40 to 45 degrees Celsius, the kind of heat a fresh coffee or tea naturally carries. As the hot drink warms the ceramic, the pigment reacts and clears in real time, gradually uncovering the artwork printed beneath rather than revealing it all at once. Once the drink cools, the black coating returns to its original state, so the transformation isn't a single use effect, it happens again with every hot refill. That repeatable reveal is what sets it apart from a standard printed mug, since the design only fully appears once the mug is actually in use. With a black body and white interior, it needs hand washing only, protecting both the temperature-sensitive coating and the sublimated print underneath from the wear a dishwasher would cause.
